Random Thoughts

Today I decided to update the blog with a bunch of random images I found on my Iphone from the last two months.
On Sunday Dan and I went on an epic bike ride.  16 miles!  I knew the trail was 15 miles long (1 extra mile because we missed a turn) but I didn't realize it would be so hilly! Our butts are still not forgiving us!

The first weekend in January we took a little road trip up US 95 to the Desert National Wildlife Refuge. On the way there we passed by Mercury, Nevada. Might be some radiation fallout here as it was the site of nuclear testing in the 1950's. Yikes. A big sign says "No Services" at this exit.

Nevada's historic markers all have this design.

Finally we arrived at the Refuge.

Brand new visitor's center. Very informative. In January we were the only ones there besides the Rangers.  One of the rangers was from western Massachusetts.  He offered us a back-country ride along next time we visit. I'm up for that.

Not a lot of wildlife around in the winter.

Loved the door handles.

As we continued our tour we came unexpectedly upon the tiny town of Crystal.

Recently in the news! Can you say Lamar Odom?!

Pretty nondescript building.

My sister, Marj, gave us this little wind chime for Christmas.  It looks good on the Tiffany lamp I received for Christmas last year!

We went over to Downtown Summerlin for a happy hour dinner at Crave. (We like happy hour meals, smaller portions and smaller prices. Adult Happy Meals.  Haha!)  On our way home we noticed the Directory. A giant touch screen ... touch the business you would like to go to and it draws you a route to that location! Pretty cool.

Pretty much all of the commercial centers in Las Vegas are all about the lighting! Very pretty public spaces.

And speaking of public spaces we glimpsed a view of the new park just off the Strip. Can't wait to visit there this summer. It is next to the new enclosed stadium that MGM is building.

And you never know who you might see in a movie this summer!

This guy might have been on his way to Oregon to defend something! IDK.

We had a great time when Kolby Hanley was in town for an archery competition. We warned them about the size of those pancakes! (Thanks for sharing with me, Kolby!

Hummm. Perhaps I should rinse every glass before I grab a quick drink from now on!

Jordan says yes on the visor, not so much the red hair.

Tricky pose.  This statue is outside the corporate offices at the Red Rock Casino.

We went to Bullhead City, Arizona for a Star Meeting. We were early so we took a little side trip to the Davis Dam and Lake Mohave. Very pretty.

Then some fun at the meeting which we arrived at LATE.  Forgot that Arizona does NOT do Daylight Savings time.

Loving the formal shoes and cowboy boots!

Visitors from Vermont.  Some of that mud comes from the Kingdom!!!!

We see these little scooters all the time in Red Rock Canyon. Their home location is just about a half mile form our house,  A trip with them is on our bucket list.

Not sure if I would let my kid stick her head out of the sunroof of my car while driving at 35 or 40 miles an hour through Red Rock Canyon.

A really bad shot of the driver and limo/hired luxury SUV waiting in front of the local supermarket.  I wonder if a celebrity is picking up a few things to tide them over? Surprised they are not at Trader Joes or Whole Foods.

We found a new breakfast place.  Yum! Crepe Station.

Happy Chinese New Year.  We stopped in at the Suncoast and joined the celebration.

Dan fed the dragon! More good luck coming our way.

Stopped in at the newly renovated Boulevard Mall. They have some interesting shops. Those hoop dresses for the Quinceanera parties are pretty elaborate and costly.

It is finally warm again.  Taigo and I were catching some rays.

Enough of the randomness! We had a busy weekend that I will write about soon.

It's all about the journey.

Nancy and Dan
