Photostream

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  Dan and I are doing well.  Busy with work, Eastern Star events and some volunteering. Chilly here. Feels like fall today. Might even freeze here tonight.

I was taking a look at my phone photos and I decided to share some images from the last month.

On Halloween we headed down to Fremont Street with thousands of other folks. We never did find Waldo!

But we did run into some familiar faces!

The Kiss impersonators were getting a lot of exposure! (The woman behind them was trying to keep people from taking background shots.)

My latest project is needlepoint.  I am having fun bringing these kitties to life. Sort of. lol

Our kitchen is really hot so we had this fan light installed recently.  I love it.  Too bad the weather has cooled down.

One of the local TV stations has a new helicopter in the air.  They stream video morning and night.  I grabbed a couple of screen shots.

A couple of weeks ago when we were diving home from Henderson we saw a bright light in the sky.  I grabbed an imperfect shot.  Definitely not a plane. Lots of people saw it.  Social media lit up!  Turns out it was an unarmed missile launched from a ship/sub off the coast of California.

Our neighbor, Marie, shared some lemons from her new tree.  Made some lemon pudding that was yummy.

Last Sunday we took a little road trip to the mall in Primm. I wanted to see it before the holiday season got crazy.  Go big or go home is the motto here!

I love this picture of Sage snuggling.  She is all about texture.

Dan won more tickets.  This time to see Heart at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay.

Ann and Nancy Wilson still have what it takes to entertain a crowd.

(On a side note, I'm getting too old for standing room only tickets.  We waited in line for a half hour then stood in a crowded area for an hour. Too much.  I get a little claustrophobic.  I left after a few songs.  Dan toughed it out for a while longer.  Good show.  I wish I had a chair though.

Fall color on Birch Bluff.

Since it is chillier out it seems the cats are always on the outside looking in!

A grapefruit from our new baby tree!

A short Thanksgiving road trip brought to Lake Las Vegas.  Lake Las Vegas is a man-made lake between Lake Mead and Las Vegas.  It is where the really rich people live.  Celine Dion has a home here. (We don't know which one!)

Nothing like a waterfall in the desert.

Pretty nice view of the Strip as you enter the community.

A view of downtown from the east.

Who makes the entrance to a mall look like aliens have landed? The Fashion Show Mall on Las Vegas Boulevard that's who!

We made a quick stop here the other day.  I love the decorations.

Onward to holiday season.  Decorations are appearing and Black Friday is tomorrow. We got a small tree's worth of ads with our paper this morning!

It's all about the journey!

Things That Fly

We got up early last Saturday morning and headed to the annual Southern Hills Hospital balloon festival. (We actually had to get our car out of our neighborhood because they were putting sealant on the streets. No access for 24 hours.)

We arrived just as the balloons were about to take off.

The balloons lifted off and then traveled in various directions and at various altitudes around the area. The Maverik balloon seemed to do a small circle at a pretty low altitude and it set back down within a half an hour.

The Little White Chapel in the Sky (hey ... we are in Vegas) made an appearance arriving from a different take-off location.  Loved the detail on this balloon.  Ribbons added to its charm.

Once it gained a bit of height we were surprised to see a person leap from its basket! Followed by a second one a few minutes later.  A wedding couple? With a death wish??? Who knows!!

There was a carnival going on as part of the event.  Not much activity so early in the morning.  Proceeds from the festival are to benefit the Public Education Foundation.

On our way home Dan spied this red neck trailer. Recycling at its best!

We grabbed breakfast at Stacks and Yolks. A new favorite.  You should see the size of the pancakes! I like the lemon blueberry.  Linda likes the red velvet!

On October 17 we went to Las Vegas Motor Speedway to attend the Red Bull Air Races. A friend of ours who works at the Aliante Station Casino gave us her tickets. What an amazing show.  Those pilots are crazy good.

There were skydivers and ...
the best stunt (only one licensed) helicopter pilot in the world.  Look carefully, that helicopter is flying upside-down!!!

Nellis Air Force Base is located just outside the track so we also were treated to a few flybys.

We spied another thing (person) that flies ... downhill that is ... Lindsey Vonn was in attendance. Probably sponsored by Red Bull.  It is funny we saw this tall slender blond out in front of the track taking a selfie in front of some sports cars.  She was wearing all black, longs sleeves and long skin tight pants. It was Hot out. We didn't know who she was until she was introduced later on during the afternoon.  Then she had an entourage. She stopped and met a few fans track-side.

Las Vegas has one of the busiest airports in the country, McCarran.  One of the runways is just a slight right turn off Las Vegas Boulevard. Another runway is perpendicular to Eastern Avenue.  When you are driving in the area there is almost always a plane right over your head! My sister, Linda works for TSA she said one Friday not long ago they processed 17,500 people just for Southwest flights!

Channel 13 has a new helicopter that flies all over the valley now.  Every morning and evening during the news they stream video.  I watched it a couple of times and captured some screen shots.

I guess that's all for now.  It has been chilly here, in the 50's and it rained yesterday.  Hail too downtown! A rare thing.

Have a great weekend.  Not sure what is on the agenda.

It's all about the journey!
