Enough Said

Snow...

In Philly.

Lake Champlain frozen solid.

Fairfax!

In denial.

Six or so inches.

To add insult to injury. Photos from Dan this morning. SNOW in Las Vegas!!!!

Mom is doing very well. But Jordan hurt his knee snowboarding. It's always something.

It's all about the journey!

Mixed Bag

Go Patriots! That was some game.  (I even watched a little.) Dan was on the edge of his seat for those final seconds!

I loved the Budweiser lost puppy and the Return to the Brady's snickers commercials. Impressed by the Throw Like a Girl spot!

My friend Katie, who I use to teach with in Fairfax, stopped off in Las Vegas on her way to Arizona. We got together for lunch at Margaritaville and a little off the Strip site seeing.

I'm not very good at selfies!
We made a quick pass through the Bellagio Conservatory for the Chinese New Year display.

Our toes made their first appearance of the day.!
Onward to Red Rock Canyon
Enjoy the rest of "winter" in Arizona, Katie!  Great to see you.

Las Vegas is experiencing warmer than normal temperatures for this time of year.  Spring is springing.

I forgot to mention that last week I locked myself out of the house when Dan was gone to work at the downtown office!.  All I can say is I was glad I was not locked out in Vermont!  Plenty to do in the near vicinity and bonus I had my cellphone and wallet with me! Best part ... the temperature was in the upper 60's.

The first leg of the 15th Annual 2-Star Tour: The Vegas Shoot, known as the largest and most prestigious indoor archery tournament in the World was in town from Feb 6-8.  This tournament attracts novice to Olympic archers from around the Globe and includes 3-intense days of no error competition.

Nice practice facility- open 24/7

Arena shooting line - plus there were two (2) conference rooms being used.
A total of over 2,600 shooters!

Going to score the arrows.
This tournament used electronic scoring devices at the targets.

Yup, trying to take a peek. . . . no luck!

The judges table overlooking the field of shooters.

Went through many TARGETS over the weekend!

Colby Hanley from Cambridge, VT was here to shoot. He is on the US Junior Archery Team and a member of the Archery Learning Center Team. We took a trip to South Point Casino Friday afternoon to watch him shoot a few rounds. Dan went back again on Saturday.  After his round, Dan gave him the Vegas tour. Colby was not sad to be missing the latest snow storm.  Nice young man.

Sponsor signage was everywhere!

Saturday evening we paid a return visit to Ethyl M chocolate factory to see the Valentine's cactus display.  Much warmer this time.

Sunday morning the warmer than normal temperatures continued so we headed back to the Henderson Bird Sanctuary. Dan spotted a Ruddy Duck and I spotted a Yellow-rumped Warbler

We saw a few other critters as well.

All in all a pretty good week.

However I just got word that my mom(Nancy's) fell this morning and fractured her hip.  Waiting on an update. I see a trip back to Vermont in the near future.  Prayers for her speedy recovery.

It's all about the journey.

Super Bowl Weekend

Hibiscus in my living room.
Pretty nice week in Las Vegas.  We had two days of much needed rain.  Maybe a half inch total! Spring is on it's way.

Dan listens regularly to a country radio station called The Coyote, 102.7.  On Tuesday he was the right caller and won 2 tickets to see Craig Wayne Boyd, the latest winner of the Voice. So Saturday evening we headed to the Aliante Casino in North Las Vegas. About a 25 minute drive.  We had never been to this location before.

The first order of business was dinner.  The Salted Lime turned out to be an excellent choice for Mexican food.  Loved, loved, loved the salsa verde made fresh daily with tomatillos.  Gotta get a recipe for this!  We had a great server as well!

Time to kill between dinner and the show so we caught Mortdecai in the casino movie theater. Just about every casino around here has at least 12 screens! Only the second time we have paid full price to see a movie! No discounts on Saturday night!
On to the show. Sorry for the blurry photos.  Only had our Iphones tonight. It was a great show.  Kind of loud for my old ears. "What?" Craig Wayne Boyd had an awesome band with him. Lots of fun.

Game day hike in Red Rock Canyon on Sunday.  It was a perfect morning for a hike with Dan. Now we can eat Super Bowl food and not feel too guilty.

Dan loves these trees with the red bark.
This bush was covered in buds.  Return trip soon!
These cliffs were used for shelter by indigenous nomadic peoples.
We stayed on the trail as recommended!

When we left home I wasn't thinking we were going to hike. Not the right footwear at all.
Found a water source at the end of a short canyon.

See the farthest pine tree. We went past that into the canyon.
Sorry, Dan saw this on an antenna as we were leaving the parking area. Not Real!
Surprisingly this cartoon in our local paper is pretty accurate. lol

It's getting close to game time so I'll end for now.  Can't wait for the commercials to begin.  haha.
Dan is all set! Go Patriots!

Be watching for a post about a visit I will have with my friend Katie (from Vermont and Montana). Should be fun!

Enjoy the big game.

It's all about the journey!
