Mixed Bag

Go Patriots! That was some game.  (I even watched a little.) Dan was on the edge of his seat for those final seconds!

I loved the Budweiser lost puppy and the Return to the Brady's snickers commercials. Impressed by the Throw Like a Girl spot!

My friend Katie, who I use to teach with in Fairfax, stopped off in Las Vegas on her way to Arizona. We got together for lunch at Margaritaville and a little off the Strip site seeing.

I'm not very good at selfies!
We made a quick pass through the Bellagio Conservatory for the Chinese New Year display.

Our toes made their first appearance of the day.!
Onward to Red Rock Canyon
Enjoy the rest of "winter" in Arizona, Katie!  Great to see you.

Las Vegas is experiencing warmer than normal temperatures for this time of year.  Spring is springing.

I forgot to mention that last week I locked myself out of the house when Dan was gone to work at the downtown office!.  All I can say is I was glad I was not locked out in Vermont!  Plenty to do in the near vicinity and bonus I had my cellphone and wallet with me! Best part ... the temperature was in the upper 60's.

The first leg of the 15th Annual 2-Star Tour: The Vegas Shoot, known as the largest and most prestigious indoor archery tournament in the World was in town from Feb 6-8.  This tournament attracts novice to Olympic archers from around the Globe and includes 3-intense days of no error competition.

Nice practice facility- open 24/7

Arena shooting line - plus there were two (2) conference rooms being used.
A total of over 2,600 shooters!

Going to score the arrows.
This tournament used electronic scoring devices at the targets.

Yup, trying to take a peek. . . . no luck!

The judges table overlooking the field of shooters.

Went through many TARGETS over the weekend!

Colby Hanley from Cambridge, VT was here to shoot. He is on the US Junior Archery Team and a member of the Archery Learning Center Team. We took a trip to South Point Casino Friday afternoon to watch him shoot a few rounds. Dan went back again on Saturday.  After his round, Dan gave him the Vegas tour. Colby was not sad to be missing the latest snow storm.  Nice young man.

Sponsor signage was everywhere!

Saturday evening we paid a return visit to Ethyl M chocolate factory to see the Valentine's cactus display.  Much warmer this time.

Sunday morning the warmer than normal temperatures continued so we headed back to the Henderson Bird Sanctuary. Dan spotted a Ruddy Duck and I spotted a Yellow-rumped Warbler

We saw a few other critters as well.

All in all a pretty good week.

However I just got word that my mom(Nancy's) fell this morning and fractured her hip.  Waiting on an update. I see a trip back to Vermont in the near future.  Prayers for her speedy recovery.

It's all about the journey.

Nancy and Dan
