Along the Way

Lake Harriet at Spring Mountain Ranch
We take lots of photos as we walk and travel around.  Here is some of the local wildlife.
Mockingbird
Cottontails
Roadrunner
? (Some day we'll learn what this is.)

This little lady is in our neighbors' tree.

Ethyl M Cactus Garden - Posting these plant pictures forces me to learn the names of all of these desert plants!
Yucca
Golden Barrel
Baja Fairy Duster (Not Vegas Tassels!)
Rabbit Ears
Willow Bottlebrush

Saguaro Cactus
Prickly Pear Cactus
Not sure what this is but Dan says it has a devilish look about it!
Saturday morning picnic at Spring Mountain Ranch.
Civil war training going on.
Female Ruddy Duck
Male Ruddy Duck
Showing off for his lady friend!

Desert Paintbrush
The jury is still out on this one.
Big camping event going on. Something to do with rock climbing we think.
I'll make a hiker of him yet!
Spring Mountain Ranch
And now for a little downtown action ...
We headed down to the Strip one afternoon with my sister and brother-in-law to see the Riviera Casino.  This beautiful old hotel is closing and will be torn down in the near future. It is only 60 years old!

Photo Op!
Apparently touching these "hard bodies" is good luck!
"French" Riviera experience?
The hotel was packed and there was a line out the door for check-in.  Many people were there for the same reason as we were, the end of an error.  (The life cycle of a casino is apparently very short lived.)

Out for a walk a couple of nights ago we decided to check out the Geocashing app on our phones. And what to you know we found our first ever Geocashes in the canyon near our house.  (Geocashes are global position marked locations where someone has left a small container for other geocashers to find.)

There are hundreds of geocashes in the Las Vegas area.  More adventures to come!

The cats are still enjoying Las Vegas!

Sage loves to supervise and keeps an eye on things.

Helping!
I was making potholders.
Loving the view through our new security door.
But Mom ... I love Cheetos!
It's been hot here and this is how Dan spends his afternoons after work.

Our front yard.  Loving it that someone else takes care of it for us!

I'm heading out to yoga class soon.  Dan is hard at work!  Have a great week everyone!

It's all about the journey!
